Local Oregon Coast Lighthouses
The three lighthouses mentioned and pictured below are all with-in a 15-40 minute drive from Yachats.
Heceta Head Lighthouse
The lighhouse is located approximately 14 miles South of
Yachats at Devil's Elbow State Park, which is a popular beach
and picnic area. Heceta Head Lighthouse is purported to
be one of the most photographed lighthouses in America, and one
understands why when taking in the view of the Lighthouse from
the headland just South of the Heceta Head. A trail
leads to the
lighthouse and the Queen Anne style keeper's
house. Rocks offshore and headlands provide numerous
seabird-nesting sites. For birders this is a great place
for viewing, so bring binoculars. The views from the
lighthouse are outstanding. The lighthouse is open daily
Memorial Day through Labor Day, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Before Memorial Day or after Labor Day schedules change.
Daily Tours are available during the summer and on weekends the
rest of the year. Visitor Fee of $3 per vehicle.

Yaquina Head Lighthouse
Located
approximately 3 miles North of Newport this 93-foot-high tower
is Oregon's tallest and second oldest continuously operating
lighthouse. The lighthouse was illuminated in 1873 and
still serves as aid to navigation along the
coast. The lighthouse stands on Yaquina Head, which is an
outstanding natural area to view nesting seabirds and whales
during migration season. Trails lead to a cobble beach
and wheelchair accessible tidepools. Visitor Fee is
$5/vehicle up to 9 passengers. Grounds are open year
round. Call 541-574-3100 for current visitor information.
Yaquina
Bay Lighthouse
This light station is located right on Yaquina Bay at the North end of Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport. It was built in 1871. It is the only such facility with a combined keeper's dwelling and light tower. Replaced in 1874 with Yaquina Head Lighthouse, it is now maintained as an historic exhibit. It is now operating as a privately maintained aid to navigation by the U.S. Coast Guard. Open as a museum daily, except for holidays. Call 541-574-3129 for current visitor information.
